Prepaid college plan open enrollment ends today
Article from Northwest News and Tribune:
TAMPA –
Open enrollment for the Florida Prepaid College Plan ends today, meaning it’s the final chance to purchase a plan at 2012 prices.
The plans can be purchased for children and grandchildren as soon as they are born and up until the 11th grade.
When a child is ready to attend college, the program covers tuition and most mandatory fees at Florida’s 12 state universities and 28 colleges. A plan’s value may also be transferred to out-of-state and private Florida colleges.
The four available tax-free plans are financially guaranteed by the state.
Open enrollment began Oct. 15.
More than 1.4 million plans have been purchased since the program began in 1988, according to the state.
